About the Trina Who Left Iowa

Trina in a Cornfield-Winter 2007

I’m Trina (yes, that is what my birth certificate says), and I’m proud to be the author of Trina Left Iowa. I grew up in a small, corn-loving town in Iowa and graduated from The University of Iowa with a degree in Biology. Although I love the homeland, I haven’t looked back since I threw my life plan out the window and left for a corporate gig in 2007.

I spent 3 months in Dallas at a corporate training/development program.  It was here that I met some of my best friends and really began to live my life to the fullest.  After the program ended, my company sent me to Chicago briefly, to Rhode Island for 8 months and then back to Dallas where I currently reside.

I’ve always been trying to figure out who I am in this big world, and my experiences in the corporate arena led me to begin blogging with my colleagues and friends at Leading Associates.  The articles from Leading Associates and these on Trina Left Iowa are an expression of that process.  I am exploring what life is all about as both a young professional and a curious, open-minded girl with strong Iowa roots.

When I’m not eating ice cream or thinking about life, I enjoy cooking, jigsaw puzzles, water activities and humorous things.
